Leonard Montgrand started work as the Executive Director for the the La Loche Friendship Centre over 10 years ago. He has a vast array of knowledge in all areas and applies his strong work ethic to this position. Since the hiring of our Director our centre has made tremendous progress in terms of new staff starting with just two persons and today we have 10 staff and still growing. We now have the new building up and running programs out of the centre, we also have a homelessness initiative grant from Provincial Metis Housing Corp. that allows us to operate a free soup kitchen for homeless people in our community. |
Leanna Janvier is our Administrative Assistant.
She is the one who administers the office and also attending to assist community members who may need assistance for faxes, direction, etc.. |
Lindsey Herman is now our Family Support Program In Home Support Worker. She has been a employee of the La Loche Friendship Centre for the past 3 years, she was previously our Community Justice Worker. The family Support programs works with clients who are referred either mandated or diverse. |
The Family Support Program is a community-based programming, to provide in home services delivered to community members by community members. Melinda Lemaigre is now our Family Support Program Coordinator.
"I deal with home visits in a family setting, I collaborate and work with various agencies that have a similar mandate as ours ( such as KYRHA, Social Services, Family Advocates, etc.. With these programs we attempt to make families stronger, healthier and a positive outlook on life. I also do Senior's/Elders tax services strictly for persons that are receiving Old Age Security" - Melinda.
"Our program offers two types of services which are mandated and diversion services. Our Mandated contracts come from the Ministry of Social Services and our diversion services are from community referrals or walk ins. We work with clients by supporting them to help with the development of Healthy Families and Children."
Strengthening Families Program
This is a new and exciting program position funded through National Crime Prevention of Canada and is a five year program. This program is one that delivers on site family workshops that provide child care , hot meals and a financial incentive for the parents to attend. This program is a 14 week duration with one session per week and alternates between La Loche and Clearwater River Dene Nation. We have a total of three staff and one person is specifically to Coordinate for the Clearwater River.

Strengthening Families Program
Jody is one of the two staff persons who will be in charge of the facilitators that will assist us in delivering this 14 week session based program to our Families in the La Loche Area. Our Program will allow families to learn and gain new skills and knowledge to utilize at home. There will be weekly sessions prepared for families, these sessions will run by facilitators who are trained to provide these services. Leanna Janvier is the Youth Intervention Worker for the Community of La Loche.
The Youth Intervention Program is funded by the Ministry of Justice, Corrections and Policing and administered through the La Loche Friendship Centre. This Program is geared towards youth who are involved in the justice system, to help youth access programs and services in the community, so they are able to get the help and support they may need to reduce the risk of re-offending. |
Community Justice Program
The Coordinator for the justice program is Howie Lemaigre. The Alternative Measures Program is a community Justice Program developed and delivered by Saskatchewan Justice, Corrections and Public Safety and the Aboriginal Justice Directorate. The La Loche Alternative measures/Extrajudical Sanctions Program work with youth and adult offenders who come into conflict with the law. Alternative Measures is a program that diverts offenders away from attaining criminal records. AMP provides a venue for victims for possible reconciliation, restitution and restoration of peace and harmony. |
